When he was selected for the Under-19 World Cup along with the likes of Irfan Pathan and Stuart Binny in 2002, this Mumbai all round was considered to be the next big thing in Mumbai cricket. But an eye injury forced him to leave the World Cup mid-way.
Thereafter, Valthaty never looked the player he was in his teens. But his consistentcy in the Mumbai club circuit paid off and he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals. But with only two games under his belt he will be seeking an opportunity to establish himself with the all-new Kings XI Punjab squad.
